Over the last few months I’ve been real lucky in regards to being able to connect and mix it up with some of the BEST coaches around.

One of these coaches I speak of is none other the Joe Meglio of MeglioFitness.com

This guy gets the 110% H.A.M. stamp of approval as he does the sh*t he preaches each and every day.

The guy is a BEAST.  Strong, Athletic, Jacked Up, but most importantly, a great dude!

Joe and I connected through Skype just the other day and talked shop about training.

Mainly about how to Train Like A Man.

We discussed the many mistakes lifters and athletes make when they train and how to fix these problems as well as had a great time talking about all the dumb sh*t we both used to do. 😉

Check out this 40+ Min Skype call we did below…

It was great to mix it up with Joe and in addition to our Skype call, he also did a solid guest blog post as well that I have posted up below.

Check out the tips Joe’s got for you on How To Train Like A Man and Get RESULTS.

================

Let me start out by saying, at one point in my life I was guilty of many of the mistakes you will read about below. I would be lying to you if I told you that I never made excuses or if I was always committed to being successful.

The truth is we all make mistakes but its about how you handle yourself when your down that defines who you really are. Even though I’ve made mistakes, I have grown mentally and physically stronger then ever before because I abide by these 7 principles below.

1) Start Lifting Heavier Weights

No matter how much you currently lift, you need to start lifting more. Progressive overload is the key to being built like a beast. Nobody wants to look the same year after year yet nobody wants to add weight to the bar!

While you are not going to break personal records every time you step into the gym, overtime you should gradually be adding more weight to the bar and be getting stronger.

Let’s say last year you squatted 325 X 5. This year you do 365 X 5 and next year you do 395 X 5. This right here is PROGRESSION. I guarantee not only will you be bigger when your squatting 395 BUT more importantly you will be STRONGER.

2) Challenge yourself

As my man Zach Even Esh would say “get comfortable being uncomfortable”, each workout should present a new challenge that not only builds physical strength, but also mental strength.

How do you build mental strength?

You got do the shit you don’t want do and get out of your own way.

Part of being a man is having the mental toughness and testicular fortitude to not quit when things get rough or don’t go your weigh. When faced with a challenge are you going to step up and rise to the occasion or are you going to back down and quit?

3) Don’t Make Excuses

“I don’t have a training partner”

“I can’t bench because I don’t have a spotter”

“I don’t have time to workout”

“The gym is too far”

These are excuses you hear from guys that truly don’t care about their manhood.

Real men can train alone. They don’t need cheerleaders screaming at them to get another rep. You need to be self motivated if you want to start training like a man. Do not wait for others to push you beyond your limits. You have to be ready, willing and enable yourself to push your limits in the gym. Step up to the challenge of training by yourself and embrace the grind.

4) Don’t be normal

What is the one thing that separates the average man from a real man? Real men are different then the norm. They don’t confine themselves to just being average or just being decent. If you want to be great in life and you want to succeed then you have to be different.

I’ve once heard the Ultimate Warrior say we all have genius inside of us and it’s up to us to unleash the power within. Your success will come when you realize that you were put on this earth for a purpose.

5) Commit

If you truly want to kick ass and start living and lifting like a man, you have to commit yourself. This isn’t something you can turn on and off or just do when you feel like it. You have to live the man code.

There you have it, 5 ways to start lifting and living like a man. If you follow these 5 principles I guarantee that you will have a new found sense of confidence and will be stronger then ever!
