Here’s a simple little mentality trick for you.

Not sure where I first heard this, but when I did, it created a MASSIVE MINDSET SHIFT in how I started to think and put certain things into perspective.

It’s a simple concept really…

Instead of always saying, “I have to” do this or I “have to” do that, start saying, “I GET TO.”

Let me share a story with you about this.

I caught myself in the “I HAVE TO” mindset just a few days back.

As the world begins to “reopen” during this Pandemic, I was laying out the plans for what that’s going to look like in my gym.

There’s a LOT of changes that’ll need to be made as I start to bring athletes back in.

The experience is going to be different.

There are new rules to follow, and it’s going to take a lot of work.

So, as I started to look into the things that’ll need to be done, I found myself getting frustrated, stressed, and a bit overwhelmed.

I need more cleaning supplies, most of everything’s sold out…

We won’t be able to use certain pieces of equipment because of the “social distancing” requirement…

There’s a limitation on how many people can attend sessions…

So as I started to dig into all of the changes, I found myself saying, “I have to” which quickly put me into a negative mindset.

Luckily, I caught myself and changed things up.

I said I don’t have to do any of this…

==> I GET TO!!

In an instant, everything changed.

The positivity within my mind overpowered everything else.

Instead of seeing everything as an obstacle, I now saw it all as a challenge and an opportunity.

What does any of this have to do with you?

Well, there’s a LOT of dads I have conversations with who know they need to make changes and want to make changes, but they just can’t seem to find the motivation to do so.

They’ll say things like, “I have to wake up early to workout” or “I have to clean up my nutrition” or “I have to make the time” or “I have to make the sacrifice”…

Look, you DON’T “HAVE TO” do anything…

You “GET TO.”

You “GET TO” to train and push your body, so you’re fitter, more energized, and athletic.

You “GET TO” to fuel and feed your body with healthy foods, so you have more energy, have better health, and look good.

You “GET TO” take the time to plan out your day so you’re more organized, focused, and on point.

You “GET TO” to spend time with your kids and be active with them, even when you’re tired, run-down, and have a ton of other things you need to get done on your plate.

You “GET TO” to wake up and LIVE LIFE to the fullest…

You “GET TO.”

It’s a choice.

At the end of the day, you don’t “have to” do jack shit.

You can sit around being lazy and settling on the BS excuses and stories you have floating around in your head all you want.

Just understand your ACTIONS or lack thereof will always determine the RESULTS you have in the NOW.

No one is making you do anything.

No one is forcing you to live your best life or settle for living your worst.

YOU “GET TO” MAKE THAT DECISION for yourself.

If anything, start looking at everything within your life as an opportunity.

YOU GET TO…

So what are you going to do with that choice?
