So you’re still doing crunches huh?

If you are, I think it’s time you STOP…

That is if you want a STRONGER and RIPPED up core.

Now, obviously eating lean and mean will play a large roll in getting you more ripped up and shredded, but also training your core in the right way will have an effect on this as well.

Now, I can remember the first time I was introduced to a “plank”.

My old wrestling coach used to make us do these at the end of practice and let me tell ya, I can remember how bad I was shaking.

I couldn’t even a hold simple plank for 30 seconds!

Times have sure changed though.

Now planks serve as a base of all of my training programs.

To build a stronger core, you’ve got to start with planks and go up from there.

To give you an idea of just how well planks and a simple variation of a plank can work to light up your abs, I’ve got a nice little 3 Minute Core  Challenge for you that my buddy Jason Klein sent over to me the other day.

Here’s how it went down…

[embedplusvideo height=”365″ width=”500″ editlink=”http://bit.ly/17KNCYb” standard=”http://www.youtube.com/v/ZzyiVIT3Da4?fs=1″ vars=”ytid=ZzyiVIT3Da4&width=500&height=365&start=&stop=&rs=w&hd=0&autoplay=0&react=1&chapters=&notes=” id=”ep5401″ /]

It’s a dead simple challenge that you can literally do anywhere, anytime.

For 3 Minutes:

a) Plank x 30 secs

b) Plank + Knee Tuck x 30 secs

***No breaks – go for the whole 3 minutes switching between the two movements.

And if you’re new to planks or need to get a little bit better at them, here’s a few key Coaching Tips For Planks:

  • Squeeze your abs and stay tight – imagine someone’s going to kick you in the stomach (if this doesn’t keep you tight, not sure what will)
  • Keep your hips UP – at least level with your shoulders – no saggy hips
  • Flare your lats – will help activate your core from the top down
  • Squeeze your ass – will help activate your core from the bottom up

Now, give this 3 Minute Core Challenge a go and let me know how it turns out for you.

Can YOU do 3 total rounds with a 1 minute break in between each round?

That would be considered “BADASS Level”

Live and Train Aggressive!

PS – I’ve got a cool interview coming tomorrow with my boy Jason Klein with The Lean Body Movement who sent me over this little challenge.
